How does the KVAR Energy Controller (EC) help me save money?

As the demand for power runs through your home, there is non-productive current (heat) that strains your home appliances and wiring - this heat is wasted energy that you are paying for. OK, so what exactly is an inductive load?

Inductive loads use magnetic fields to operate (i.e. motors, solenoids, and relays) So chances are if it moves, it's probably an inductive load. The biggest examples of inductive motors are air conditioning units, pool pumps, well pumps, refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, and dishwashers all the way down vacuum cleaners, furnace blower motors, computer fans, ceiling fans, and even a hair dryer has an inductive load. Now think about all those cancerous causing electric magnetic fields (EMF) in your home and remember that the KVAR EC can reduce each one of those EMF's by up to 40%!

What kind of savings can I really expect to see with the KVAR EC unit?

This depends on many factors: the size of your home, the rate you are charged by the power company, how much electricity you use, etc. While we cannot guarantee any specific savings, our customers have shown savings of 8%-25% and up off their electric bills.

Can you guarantee I'll save money?

Does the KVAR EC come with any warranty?

Every unit we sell includes the KVAR EC Comprehensive Twelve Year Full Factory Warranty!

KVAR PFC provides that, if within twelve (12) years from purchase date, this product fails due to a defect in material or workmanship, KVAR PFC will repair or exchange the affected unit free of charge.

The warranty does not apply to damages caused by:

• Accidental mishandling, dropping or other types of physical abuse
• Units which have been opened, taken apart or subjected to unauthorized repair
• Units which have not been installed or used in accordance with instructions
• Riots, civil disturbances, war or any other "Acts of God"

This warranty does not apply to damages claimed in excess of the cost of a replacement unit, and although this warranty outlines specific legal rights, your actual rights may vary from state to state.

How long will the KVAR EC last?

With the exceptional quality and high standard of components used, coupled with the fact that there are no moving parts, predicted life span is about 25 years.

Does the KVAR EC work in any home?

Yes it does, as long as you have a circuit breaker panel with breaker switches and not the old screw in type fuses, the unit will work on any single-phase electric application for homes. For larger homes, we will need to size your home to ensure that you get a unit that covers all the amperage being used.

Do you have any KVAR EC units that can be used in commercial or industrial businesses?

Of course we do! Systems are available for 3 phase 200 and 400 amp panel mount applications, as well as for the more commercial applications as utilized in large induction motor assemblies. KVAR has a patented apparatus and methodology for determining the exact amount of capacitance that is needed to optimize inductive motors to achieve maximum savings. These larger three phase motors would generally have the KVAR EC installed at the motors’ disconnect, after first having trained electricians carry out an individual sizing of the respective motors. I live in an apartment, can I use a KVAR EC unit?

The KVAR EC can be used on the A/C in the common areas (i.e. leasing office, meeting rooms, etc.) as well as the pool and/or hot tub pumps. However for each individual unit there isn't enough amp draw if they have their own panels and too much draw if each apartment runs off one central panel.

Will the KVAR EC adversely affect any of my appliances and their normal use?

No, if anything, your motors will run about 10% cooler, which is good for a motor because heat is the enemy of a motor causing them to burn out over time. The KVAR EC will typically extend the life of motors by 15% or more.

Does the KVAR EC have any effect on my computer or other electronics?

Yes. The KVAR EC's technology and voltage regulation actually cleans up dirty power within the home which is better for computers and electronics as well as anything else powered within the home. Additionally, the KVAR EC's surge and spike protection helps protect all electrical devices.

We're moving, can we take the KVAR EC with us?

Absolutely! In fact we would be happy to uninstall the unit at your current home and reinstall it at your new residence for a nominal fee. However, keeping the unit on the home might add an extra selling perk to the buyer because of the added energy conservation.

How is the environment benefited by using the KVAR EC?

Since the unit reduces the amount of power being used, there is less fossil fuel being mined to generate power and that, in turn, decreases of dependency on foreign oil. The KVAR EC is a green product with no lead paints or zinc in the bolts, and no other hazardous materials in the making of the unit. It's as green as the dollars you'll be saving!

How do the utility companies benefit and do they agree with power factor optimization?

The KVAR EC improves the efficiency of the electrical system and the capacity of the existing distribution system is increased. Will the KVAR EC adversely effect my back up generator, solar power or any other alternative power source or visa-versa?

Nope. Your KVAR EC can not make a distinction between power sources. As far as the KVAR EC is concerned, electricity is electricity. It makes no difference where the electricity comes from so it will have no negative effect on the source nor will it be effected by the source. The KVAR EC does however have a very positive effect on the power source by enhancing the capacity of the power source because less amps and watts are being utilized.

What's this about KVAR EC being used for surge protection?

The KVAR EC also protects the entire home against power surges. No longer a need for so many surge protectors in the home. The unit provides a broad range of protection for hardwired appliances and most home electronics such as televisions, satellite equipment, entertainment systems, etc. The unit protects from power line surges as well as spikes caused by internal wiring problems, loose connections and fluctuating demand from large motors such as appliances, vacuum cleaners, heating and cooling equipment, etc.

Where are the KVAR EC's made?

It sounds too good to be true.. there must be a "catch" or hidden fees?
